How Much Real Homeland Security Could We Have for $1.4 Trillion

How much universal healthcare, for that matter? The first comment on Think Progress' article asks the 1.4 Trillion dollar question.

How much of the future of the Medicare Trust Fund could be guaranteed with this much money? How much of the Social Security Trust? The neo-conservatives hate universal healthcare and public programs. The Iraq war is an ingenious way to bankrupt the country and prevent us from being able to afford what Americans really want: Health insurance for all and the programs that serve as a safety net for the most vulnerable in our society. It's time for these people to go.
